The Least of My Brothers

Who are the "least of my brothers" that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 25? Jesus identifies Himself with them, and says "whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, you do to Me." (Mt. 25:40)

Jesus identifies Himself with the abandoned, the weak, the defenseless, the poor. Who meets this description more than the unborn child in his mother's womb? Our nation has closed its eyes to Christ, and refuses to see Him in their neighbor, in family, friends, strangers, and especially in the unborn. The spiritual crisis in our nation, abandoning God in our daily lives, manifests itself through abortion for the sake of convenience.

Gianna Jessen is 15 years old and on April 14th she celebrates her birthday, but not really. She was aborted on that day, but God saved her. A saline abortion was given to her mother which was suppose to burn the child to death like chemical warfare, but something went wrong. She was born severely damaged but alive, and the nurse took her to the hospital where she was expected to die. God helped her and she lives today among the few children who were not born into this world, but aborted and lived. She can witness powerfully to the lies of the pro-death movement.

A woman's right to do with her own body does not involve the child in her womb, because a woman's body does not have two hearts, four eyes, two brains, two bodies and two souls. At death our body dies and our soul returns to God for judgment. In the same way, at conception, when our bodies begin, our soul is created by God and animates our body, no matter how small. At conception, an immortal soul is created by God that will last for eternity. The "choice" that is spoken of by the pro-death movement is really involved before the conception. The choice they have is whether to have relations which may result in a child.

Once the child is conceived there is no more choice, the child is alive, and his soul will live forever. Through abortion the reality of the child is not prevented since the child already exists. The woman doesn't cease to be a mother, she becomes the mother of a dead baby. This truth is a painful reality for the mother who aborts and she too becomes a victim of this national lie. Over 4000 women have died from supposedly safe and legal abortions. Women who survive abortions often turn to drugs, alcohol and sex to help them deny and forget what they did.

If you know a woman who is suffering post abortion trauma, encourage her to call Project Rachel at (202) 269-HOPE (In Washington) or (703) 841-2504 (In Northern VA). The National Office of Post-Abortion Reconciliation and Healing is (800-5WE-CARE).

Scripture says: "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you." (Jer. 1:5) In Luke 1:44, Elizabeth tells Mary "the moment that the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the Babe in my womb leapt for joy." Psalm 139:13 says "Truly you have formed my inmost being, you knit me in my mother's womb." The fruit of the womb they shall not spare, nor shall they have eyes of pity for children." (Is. 13:18) I encourage all of you to become the voice of the unborn and to attend the March for Life each Jan. 22nd in Washington, D.C.
